Catholic Studies Minor/Concentration Program Description

The Catholic Studies Minor is for students who want to learn about the rich intellectual and cultural traditions of the Roman Catholic Church during the past two millennia and study their impact on western thought. True to the Emory mission of building "on our heritage of engaging knowledge and faith," the Catholic Studies minor is a academic program, without confessional stance or Episcopal oversight, driven throughout by the same spirit of independent scholarly inquiry Emory faculty have brought to the study of other religions and faith traditions.

Minor vs. Concentration

The Catholic Studies concentration differs from the Catholic Studies minor in only one aspect. The Catholic Studies minor appears on the student's transcript. The Catholic Studies concentration receives an official letter of recognition from the Aquinas Center of Theology indicating the completion of the coursework.
